Five things to know about the upcoming Honor 7X
HIGHLIGHTS

A bezel-less screen in a budget, the Honor 7X will launch in India soon and will be an Amazon Exclusive.

Huawei’s online brand Honor’s new budget smartphone is incoming in India. The Honor 7X was unveiled in China earlier in October. Like Honor’s previously released X lineup of devices, the aim is not to take on the flagships, but to bring attractive flagship features for those on a budget. Which means, the phone is expected to come with all the trending bells and whistles, but with some compromises.

So, here are five things you should know about the upcoming Honor 7X:

1. This time around, the focus is more on the display. Like every other phone maker, the Honor 7X features an 18:9 display with minimal bezels on the sides and this is the main focus of the phone. The Honor 7X sports a massive 5.93-inch FHD+ display of 1080×2160 resolution in a 6-inch form factor and 77 percent screen to body ratio, which is a lot more than its predecessor, the Honor 6X. However, it is quite in line with the likes of the Honor 9i, the LG Q6 and the Vivo V7 Plus which also sport 18:9 displays. We said minimal bezels and not bezel-less because unlike the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 or the iPhone X, there are significant bezels on the top and the bottom.

2. While Honor is giving you a bezel-less experience, don’t expect the screen to look as ravishing as the Galaxy Note 8 or the iPhone X. That’s because the Honor 7X uses an IPS LCD display which, while providing better viewing angles, cannot reproduce colours as well as OLED panels.

3. Honor was one of the first brands to jump on the dual camera bandwagon and the Honor 7X too sports a dual camera stack on the back, with a 16-megapixel primary lens and a 2-megapixel depth-sensing lens. Honor uses depth-sensing cameras to replicate a shallow aperture and provide the very popular portrait mode for photos. Apart from this, there is an 8-megapixel camera at the front.

4. The Honor 7X comes with upgraded specs under the hood. It features an Octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 569 chipset along with 4GB of RAM. In China, it is being offered in three storage variants going all the way up to 128GB. However, the battery capacity remains unchanged at 3,340mAh. Considering the screen size has expanded, it is likely that battery life might be affected. However, Honor must have made some hardware-level optimisations to keep the battery life similar to its predecessor, if not more.

5. The phone is listed on Amazon India and is likely to be an Amazon exclusive. Honor has opened pre-registrations for the device and if you share the screenshot of the pre-registration confirmation, you are eligible to win an Honor 7X from the company, apart from other goodies. In addition, there will also be exclusive launch offers and exchange offers for the phone.
