Micromax had announced its official entry into the Windows Phone arena by launching two new smartphones at a press event in New Delhi. The Canvas Win W092 and W121 are two new affordable smartphones running on the latest WP 8.1 update.
The bigger smartphone of the lot, the W121 boasts a 5-inch IPS panel with a 720p resolution display which makes it the most affordable Windows smartphone with an HD display at Rs. 9,500. The smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 200 chipset (quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM) and also includes an 8MP rear camera with an LED flash, a 2MP front camera, 8GB expandable storage and dual-SIM capabilities. Just like the W092, this smartphone will be missing Nokia apps like Here Maps, Nokia Music and all the camera apps.
For a sub 10k smartphone, the W121 impressed us in the design department. The front is dominated by the glass panel which has the 5-inch display underneath. The display is quite good in its class and offers great viewing angles. The edges have a brushed metal finish which boosts its image and the back has leather like texture just like the one seen on Samsung devices. The back houses the 8MP camera with the LED flash and the speaker. The back panel comes off and you can access the two SIM card slots, the microSD card slot and the battery. If you want a better design and build quality, the W121 is a better option rather than the W092.
Who should consider buying the Micromax Canvas Win W121?
If you are looking for a stable Windows Phone experience on a budget and don’t want to lose on screen-size and build quality, then the Canvas Win W121 is an excellent choice.
