Best smartphones with no notch
In their quest to offer a complete bezel-less display, smartphone makers came across a problem with the front facing camera. Most decided to literally go around the problem, which is how we got the notch and punch-hole designs. However, there are some phones that manage to offer a near bezel-less screen for an uninterrupted view of the display. Here’s a look at some of the best phones without a notch.
OnePlus 7T Pro
The OnePlus 7T Pro offers a huge 6.67-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with a screen-to-body ratio of 88.3%. The display also curves around the two sides of the phone, which adds to the near bezel-less look of the phone. The smartphone also offers a 90Hz refresh rate, which makes the animations and transitions quite smooth. Powering the whole thing is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ SoC, with 8GB RAM. In terms of optics, you get a triple-rear camera setup with a 48MP primary sensor, 16MP sensor with an ultra-wide lens, and an 8MP sensor with a telephoto lens. The 16MP front camera is housed inside a pop-up module, which is hidden most of the time, and pop-up only when needed.
Redmi K20 Pro
Redmi K20 Pro features a 6.39-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 85.9% screen-to-body ratio. The AMOLED display ensures deeper blacks and more vibrant colours as compared to a standard LED displays. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, which should keep things smooth. At the back of the phone is a triple-rear camera setup with a 48MP Sony IMX856 primary sensor, a 8MP sensor with a telephoto lens and a 13MP sensor with an ultra-wide lens. At the front is a 20MP sensor that is housed in a pop-up module. Other features of the device include a 4000mAh battery, with support for Quick Charge 4.0.
Samsung Galaxy A80
The Samsung Galaxy A80 offers a massive 6.7-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ display with an impressive 85.76% screen-to-body ratio. However, unlike other smartphones in this list, the Galaxy A80 does not rely on a pop-up front camera to offer a high screen-to-body ratio. Instead, the entire rear camera module lifts up and spins around to become the front camera. The phone offers a triple-rear camera setup with a 48MP+8MP+ToF camera setup. Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G octa-core SoC with 8GB RAM. Users also get 128GB of storage space, which should be enough for most users.
Vivo V17 Pro
The Vivo V17 Pro packs a 6.44-inch FHD+ AMOLED display and offers a screen-to-body ratio of 84.3%. Like most other phones in this list, the device also uses a pop-up camera system to offer a notchless design, but its pop-up module offers a dual-camera setup. At the front is a 32MP+8MP setup. At the back is a quad-rear camera setup with a 48MP+13MP+8MP+2MP configuration. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 AIE SoC with 8GB RAM. Other features include a 4100mAH battery, with the company’s own Dual Engine fast charging tech.
