HIGHLIGHTS

Flipkart is selling the Moto X for Rs. 19,999 under exchange for your old smartphone. And, it is an excellent deal for a mid-range smartphone buyer. Here's why...

The mid to high segment of Android smartphones is quite stagnant these days with only a few worthy devices to consider. The Moto X is probably the best option one can look out for and personally we loved the smartphone.

For the ones who have been considering the Moto X, things just got even better as Flipkart has announced a special buy-back offer where you can get up to Rs. 4000 off on the Moto X by exchanging your old handset, bringing the cost of the smartphone down to Rs. 19,999. We checked the list of phones eligible under the exchange offer and were pleasantly surprised to find almost all brands and most phones starting with a price tag for Rs. 4,500 being allowed under exchange for a flat discount of Rs. 4,000.

Now the real question is why one should consider the Moto X over other smartphones that offer similar specs in the same price bracket. Here are five very good reasons why you should choose Moto X over any other smartphone under Rs. 20,000.

Looks, build-quality & design: Well, for starters, the Moto X looks brilliant and has great build quality. You also get a variety of back panels to match your style. The ultra-compact form factor ensures that the Moto-X has an excellent screen-to-bezel ratio, making it one of the most (if not the most) compact 4.7-inch screen smartphones today.

Performance: On the performance front, we found that even with a dual-core processor, the smartphone has a lot of potential. In the synthetic benchmarks, the numbers of the Moto X were pretty close to Nexus 5 and Nexus 4 while it clearly out-performed smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2, Xolo Q3000 and even the Sony Xperia SP.

Android support/updates: Another great thing is the software support. The Moto X offers a Nexus like Android experience and since the company was once owned by Google, updates should not be an issue.

Stupendous battery-life for a slim phone: Even the battery backup on the Moto X is exceptionally good and the tests proved that it is almost as good as the Lenovo P780 which has a larger 4000mAh battery(as against the 2200mAh pack on the Moto X). Check out the graph below:

Unique features: Touch-less controls, water-repellent coating, active display/notifications and true RGB AMOLED display are not just unique but also very handy features/characteristics in a sub-20K smartphone.

In our opinion, the Moto X offers a compelling package for its exchange price of Rs. 19,999. We would recommend the Moto X over the Micromax Canvas Knight, Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 and even the Sony Xperia SP.
