It is this curiosity that compelled Hong Kong based startup, Hanson Robotics, to come up with this ingenious Professor Einstein robot. Yes, you can now have the legendary inventor sit on a table in your living room and assist you in your daily activities. This has to be every geek’s fantasy, right?
What can the Professor Einstein personal robot do?
While there is no comparison with the real Einstein, this robotic assistant looks just like him, complete with the beatnik outfit. However, while the real Albert Einstein stood 5 feet 9 inches tall, his robotic version measures just 14.5 inches in height. The robot can smile, frown, and even stick his tongue out. In all, the robot has over 50+ gestures to play around with. But, it’s not just a doll for amusement.
Professor Einstein is Wi-Fi enabled, which allows him to download and work with interactive apps from the cloud. He can also recognise speech and users can talk to the robot about anything from the weather, famous people, food or math problems. Since he recognises voice commands, users can direct the robot to set alarms, reminders and add calendar entries.
If you’ve always dreamt of having your brain teased by a true genius, you are in luck. The Professor Einstein personal robot can play interactive games with you on an iPad or Android tablet. While you are at it, the robot can also give you a few science and math lessons for no charge at all. In addition, Professor Einstein’s reward system allows you to earn IQ points, which you can use to unlock special items, bonus games and avatar upgrades. Once it is fully charged, the robot can be used for 3 continuous hours, or so claims the company.
The Professor Einstein project is currently looking for crowdfunding on online platform, Kickstarter. The Hong Kong based startup is hoping to raise HK$ 775,000 by February 27, 2017, of which they have already managed to accumulate HK$ 278,932. Early bird Professor Einstein robots will cost $249 (Rs. 16,976) with one year of free cloud support and $100 worth of apps. Investors can pledge as little as HK$ 39 (Rs. 342) to be a part of the project. Check out the robot in action below.
