The October Binge Guide: Everything you can watch on Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video and Netflix this month
HIGHLIGHTS

So much to watch, so little time! October is full of new and returning streaming goodies. Take a look.

October officially marks the start of winter and if you are a couch potato like me, you must be looking forward to those snuggly afternoons and nights when that bag of chips and bottle of soda (or something stronger) are your only companions through those long hours of streaming. But, since it's also a month of festivities, I would advise you to take that shower you’ve been planning for weeks and head out from your virtual worlds to the real one.

Oops, almost forgot I’m writing the “Binge Guide”. So stay put, put on your PJs and hit that play button because October is full of new and returning streaming goodies. Take a look

Marvel’s Daredevil

The reviews are in, and if we go by what they say, the series will make a strong comeback this October. The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen faces his arch nemesis Wilson Fisk in what seems to be Daredevil Season 1 on steroids. There’s also an imposter Daredevil out to destroy the reputation of our masked hero. Who is he and will he succeed? You find out in just a few days, but before tha, watch out for our spoiler-free review of the same.

Release Date: October 19

The Haunting of Hill House

Netflix is all about spooks this month of Halloween and The Haunting of Hill House is already out to creep all of you out. The tale of the most haunted house in America is based on Shirley Jackson’s 1959 gothic horror novel by the same name. It is the story of five siblings who grew up at the horrific Hill House. Now adults, they’re reunited by the suicide of their youngest sister, which forces them to finally confront the ghosts of their own pasts… lurking in their minds and the iconic Hill House.

Young Sheldon

If you want to take a break from tormented superheroes and possessed houses, Amazon Prime Videos has something lighter in store this month. Young Sheldon has returned for a second season and the first four episodes are already streaming. It’s more fun to watch this time because one can clearly see the influence of the show in the new season of The Big Bang Theory. Yes, there’s a new season of Big Bang Theory to devour as well this month and we’re coming to that next.

The Big Bang Theory

Season 12 of The Big Bang Theory is out and thanks to Hotstar’s partnership with HOOQ, we get to stream it on the the former. Four episodes later, I can tell you that it’s more of the same. I like the cross-integration between Young Sheldon and TBBT as some characters from Sheldon’s childhood reappear as their older versions on the latter. PS: This is the last season of Big Bang Theory, so here’s hoping it’s a good one!

Riverdale

Riverdale season 3 picks up where season 2 ended, with Archie getting falsely arrested for a murder in the Shadow forest. Season 3 opens with Archie’s trial and a judgement is passed. Meanwhile, some more creepy stuff happens in Betty’s already twisted family, while Jughead rescues a dog. We’re not in the business of giving away spoilers, so go and watch it for yourself.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Having screened the first few episodes of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, I can say that it’s a series made for the 90’s kid. A lot of the comic book makes it to the show, which creates a great sense of nostalgia. The title sequence itself creates this immense sense of recall for someone who has read the comics. On first impressions, the series seems well suited for 13 – 17 year olds, but I can also see a whole family sitting together and enjoying the show.

The Man in High Castle Season 3

In season 3 the stakes are high for the Man in High Castle. Even though the first half of the season kicks off a little slowly, it is the second half of the season that keep you hooked. Fans of the franchise will enjoy the stronger presence of the Sci-Fi elements in the show. The story this time around has more twists and turns than you can guess!
