The June Binge Guide: What to stream on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video this month
HIGHLIGHTS

We put together our monthly list of TV shows, movies, documentaries and stand-up acts you can catch on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video this June. Take a peek

Orange Is The New Black Season 5

Season 5 of Orange Is The New Black is out and the show has managed to bring back its zest this time around. Unlike season 4, OITNB Season 5 is actually quite intriguing and had us hooked till the end. The entirety of the season follows a prison riot organised by Litchfield inmates. While some gang up to imprison the guards, others take the advantage of the distraction to form deeper bonds. The ladies are on top of of their game and we like how the show retains its original format of dipping in and out of back stories of the characters. The season ends at a major cliffhanger, but the journey up to that moment is supremely entertaining.

Okja

Many intense debates have been stirred because of South-Korean director Bong Joon-ho’s movie – Okja. The film faced a lot of criticism at this year’s Cannes festival and theaters in South Korea have refused to release the film simultaneously with the streaming platform. Nevertheless, Okja is on schedule to hit the web on June 28. From what we’ve seen in the trailers, the film is a unique mix of Sci-Fi and drama. Okja is the name of a very large, hippo-esque animal and the movie follows a young girl’s struggle to save its life from corporate greed. We’ll get you a review of the film very soon.

Kanan Gill: Keep It Real

Who doesn’t like Kanan Gill, the guy who gave us the Pretentious Movie reviews? Not many, we suppose. Amazon has some great comedy specials and this is one of them. Gill is hilarious as he performs his stand-up act at the Royal Opera House in Mumbai. If you are looking to lighten up the mood this June, don’t miss this one for sure.
