The Standups

Netflix is ramping up its standup comedy offerings and has added a new original called, well, The Standups. The six-part series is definitely ROFL worthy and features one standup comedian per episode. Over the course of the season, you will watch some observational humour from comedian Nate Bargatze, Emily Fortune Feimster quips about her first ever marijuana eating experience, Deon Cole comes up with a swath of black jokes (before you take offence, he is black), Nikki Glaser looks to humour audiences with some situational comedy and Beth Stelling dedicates her bit to her mom and frozen yogurt.

The classic Konami video game comes to life in this animated series. Castlevania is a Netflix original based on the game Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. It’s Trevor Vs Dracula in this horror-fantasy penned by famous comic book writer Warren Girard Ellis (Transmetropolitan, Astonishing X-Men and the Iron Man Extremis series which inspired Iron Man 3). Aditi Mittal: Things They Wouldn’t Let Me Say

We’ve been waiting for an Aditi Mittal comedy special and we are getting one this month on Netflix. The Indian comedian will get your giggles on at a global stage for the very first time in this 61 minute special, where she talks about being a 30-year old woman in India. We gots to hear that one out, given that cows command more freedom and respect than women in this country.

Ozark

Ozark will see Jason Bateman journey through the dangerous world of drugs and money laundering. The show is a Netflix original and is set in the very place that gives the series its name – Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. Ozark also casts actress Laura Linney (Sully) as Bateman's TV wife. The plot thickens when Marty Byrde (Bateman) has to quietly wrap up his city life and move to Missouri to leave behind a drug deal gone sour.

Old, but Gold

We’re new to streaming in India and there might have been a few gems you missed out on in the past. For all those looking to watch some great TV content, here’s what you can pick up this July.

Peaky Blinders

Peaky Blinders is all of 3 seasons old now, with a fourth one on the horizon this October. This BBC Brummie TV series has all the makings of a superb action drama. The Shelby’s are a gangster family that start-off small, but eventually take over Birmingham city. Cillian Murphy (Dunkirk 2017) plays the protagonist Thomas Shelby, and you’re going to fall in love with his part soldier boy, part Godfather-like character. Other cast members include Tom Hardy (Inception, Taboo), Paul Anderson (The Revenant, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows) and Helen McCrory (Madame Kali from Penny Dreadful). Trust us! This one is totally worth your time

Platform: Netflix

IMDB Rating: 8.8

There's not much happening on Amazon Prime Video's July calendar, unless you want to catch up on some fairly recent Hindi/Englisgh movies. We'll keep you updated if we find some more interesting content for you to stream this month.
