Superheros have essentially become the new gods of our generation. With powers that rival even the most powerful mythological figures, superheroes have sort of taken over the role that mythical heroes have held for centuries. And we can see exactly why that is. Superheroes were created to be the ideal men and women and their powers reflect just that. So, with that in mind let’s check out the best Amazon Prime superhero movies on the platform. 

These superhero movies on Amazon Prime India are some of the highest-grossing films in history and while some may not have broken box office records they are still some must watch superhero films on Prime in 2020. Having conquered print media, superheroes have now made their mark on cinema and what better way to explore the genre than to check out the top superhero movies on Prime Videos? We have definitely included some new superhero movies on Amazon Prime, but we couldn’t resist throwing in a few curveballs as well. So come join us as we take a closer look at some of the best superhero films on Amazon Prime. Blade

The first Blade film was truly a revolution for its time. Released in 1998, Blade stars Wesley Snipes as the half-vampire, half-human butt-kicking vampire slayer who makes it his mission to hunt down the vilest vampire of them all in Deacon Frost, played with manic glee by Stephen Dorff. The film also gave Marvel its first real hit with the R-rated superhero flick. The action is tight, and the story isn’t too complicated as to bog the film down. If you haven’t seen this film, you need to check it out, right now. 

The Incredible Hulk

The second Hulk reboot, The Incredible Hulk was also one of the first few films released by a then fledgeling Marvel Studios. Remember, this is before the company struck gold with Iron Man, so they put all their chips on the green giant. And while the film did not crush box office records, it did relatively well and gave Marvel the foothold it needed to then release the first Iron Man film, and as they say, the rest is history. 

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman was breath of fresh air in the theatres and really put DC on the map after the comic book giant had released a bunch of films that did not seem to resonate with audiences. Starring the ethereal Gal Godot, Wonder Woman tells the tale of Diana of Themyscira as she navigates the perils of World War 1 and tries her best to end the war. The film has a ton of heart is definitely worth a watch.   

Daredevil

Ok, so we’ll admit, this isn’t the best representation of the character of Daredevil, but the film actually works, despite it all. Starring Ben Affleck as the titular Daredevil, the film has its fair share of excellent action scenes and at the end of the day is a tender love story between Daredevil and Electra the assassin. Also, Colin Farrell totally crushes it as the villainous Bullseye in a performance for the ages. If you really want to take a trip down memory lane as far as superheroes come, it doesn’t get better than Daredevil. 

Man of Steel 

Man of Steel saw Zack Snyder bring his trademark style to the DC universe in a big way. As you guys know, Man of Steel is basically an origin story wrapped up in a slick action film. For the first time on the big screen, we got to see the iconic destruction of Krypton and Superman’s first real adventure as he battles General Zod and his army of zealots, hellbent on destroying Earth and turning it into New Krypton. Plus, Henry Cavill totally pulls off the red cape and blue suit and we can’t imagine anyone else playing the role after. 

Aquaman

With the number of production problems this film faced, we were unsure that it was even going to be released. But, as fate would have it Aquaman came out with a bang and put DC on the map. But, behind the scenes meddling by DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns really did the film a disservice as Johns has no idea about what goes into a great story. But, it was all good in the end as we finally got to see Jason Momoa as Aquaman on the big screen courtesy of James Wan of The Conjuring fame.  

Venom

This film was not even supposed to work and there wasn’t too much hype behind it but surprisingly, Venom is a pretty good superhero film. Starring Tom Hardy as Spiderman’s greatest villain, Venom is a funny yet action-packed superhero tale that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Imagine a race of sentient parasites that bond with their hosts to give them incredible powers and that’s what Venom is. The film also features Riz Ahmed as a ruthless tech mogul who wants to use said parasites to jump-start humanity’s evolution into something more sinister. 

Green Lantern

Even though Green Lantern fizzled out at the box office, Green Lantern is a pretty good film with some eye-popping special effects. It also helps that the character was portrayed by Ryan Reynolds who adds a ton of charm into the film. To be fair, the cast of the film was amazing and it’s a pity that Green Lantern never made it past the first film. Also, that CGI costume really did not help matters at all! 

Shazam

DC Comics made the surprising decision to hire a horror film director to helm Shazam but it somehow works! And, just like Wonder Woman, Zacary Levi really adds a ton of heart to the film which is why it is one of the better superhero films out there. The film tells the story of a young Billy Batson who is turned into the hero Shazam as he battles Mark Strong’s Dr. Sivanna and his Seven Deadly Sins. The film is all heart and has some real laugh-out-loud moments as well. Truly a film for the whole family. 

Batman v Superman

And we’ve saved the best for last! Batman v Superman may not have the most coherent plot out there but it more than makes up for by with excellent direction and visual effects and who didn’t lose it when they saw Superman and Batman standing next to each other on the big screen. To be honest, all of us went nuts when that first happened. Plus we got to see a toned-down version of Doomsday which was a bit of a letdown but hey, at least we got a great fight scene out of it.
