San Diego Comic-Con 2018 will showcase these hot new movie and TV titles!
HIGHLIGHTS

From Wonder Woman 1984 to Aquaman, Black Summer to Iron Fist 2, Glass to Bumblebee, here's what you can expect from the San Diego Comic-Con International 2018.

San Diego Comic-Con 2018, an annual celebration of superheroes, pop culture, bobbleheads, creators and cosplay, starts on July 19 and runs through the weekend till Monday, July 23. Every year, SDCC gives us a fresh trove of TV and movie trailers from the houses of Marvel, DC, Netflix, Warner Bros, Sony Pictures, HBO and the likes. This year though, Marvel, Lucasfilm and HBO are giving SDCC a pass, but there’s still a lot to look forward to in the form of new trailers and reveals from DC, 20th Century Fox, Paramount, Sony and others. Here’s all that you can expect from this year’s San Diego Comic-Con International.

July 19

20th Century Fox

The Predator

SDCC kicks off on July 19, when 20th Century Fox takes the stage inside the massive 6500-seater Hall H of the San Diego Convention Center, presenting its famous Predator reboot. We might get to see a new trailer or those in attendance will get to catch a glimpse at some preview footage of the upcoming sci-fi horror which releases on September 14. A lot is riding on this revival of The Predator since the last one released in 2010 bombed pretty badly. The movie features a stellar cast as well this time and the action (from the looks of the trailer) seems decent enough. Fun fact – Shane Black, who is directing the movie also played a part in the original Predator movie back in 1987. He was the first victim killed by the Predator in the original. Until we see some new footage emerge from SDCC, here’s a trailer for The Predator to feed your appetite.

Netflix

Black Summer

Netflix’s Black Summer is a spin-off from SYFY’s zombie show Z Nation. At Comic-Con, Netflix will detail the story for Black Summer, and how the creators plan to expand the universe of this iconic zombie mythos.

Iron Fist Season 2

As much as we despised Iron Fist in the first season, we hope to see things turn around in season 2 of the series. At Comic-Con this year, attendees can expect Netflix to reveal the “inside scoop” on what's in store for season 2 of Marvel's Iron Fist. The panel will feature executive producer and Marvel's head of television Jeph Loeb, and some “surprise panelists”.

July 20

Universal Pictures

Glass

It’s a match made in heaven and the last leg of a trilogy. Universal Pictures’ movie Glass will see two of M. Night Shyamalan’s most twisted and popular narratives collide in a final chapter. Unbreakable’s Bruce Willis returns as the super-strong David Dunn, as does Samuel L. Jackson playing Elijah Price. Dunn and Price meet Shyamalan’s famous maniac Kevin Wendell Crumb (played by James McAvoy) from Split, and Casey Cooke (Anya Taylor-Joy) the only one to survive 'The Beast'. The first teaser for this January 2019 release was promoted at CinemaCon back in April, so we can expect a longer trailer at SDCC. There’s not much we know about the movie, but here’s what Universal describes it as – “Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.” Excited yet?

Halloween

It’s been forty years since the last Halloween movie and Michael Myers is all all set to unleash terror once again in this reboot of Halloween. The movie is expected to pick up from the John Carpenter original released back in 1978 and ignore all the other versions that followe. It even features Jamie Lee Curtis as the iconic Laurie Strode who escaped Myers’ wrath four decades ago. We’ve already seen the first trailer for Halloween, but Universal will probably have a new one to show off at Comic-Con as the movie releases this October. You can check out the first Halloween trailer below.

Paramount

Bumblebee

By now, most of us know that the next chapter in the Transformers franchise, Bumblebee, is releasing this December. At Comic-Con 2018, Paramount might feature new trailers and clips from the movie. Transformers is coming to Comic-Con’s Hall H for the first time this year with Bumblebee. Director Travis Knight will be joined by star Hailee Steinfeld and cast in a panel moderated by Entertainment Weekly's Anthony Breznican.

Sony Pictures

Venom and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

New trailers and details are expected for Venom and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse at Sony’s Comic-Con presentation. Filmmakers and talent will show audiences what's in store as the lethal protector Venom finally gets his own movie. Then, the creators of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse give you an inside look at the new animated movie. Both films have already received full length trailers so maybe those attending the panel will actually see a preview of the films.

July 21

DC & Warner Bros

Finally on Saturday comes Warner Bros and DC’s turn to snatch the limelight away from Marvel. The first trailer for Jason Momoa's Aquaman is set to debut at Comic-Con this year.

We might also see the first teaser for Zachary Levi’s Shazam. The film is set to release in April, 2019, and all we have till now is a logo and the below image released exclusively to Entertainment Weekly.

We don’t expect a whole trailer for Wonder Woman 1984, Gal Gadot’s second coming as Princess Diana of Themyscira, but a teaser could be shown at Comic-Con this year.

So as you can see, there’s a lot to look forward to this weekend and we advise you keep a keen eye out for new trailers. Nonetheless, we will get you all the news from the San Diego Comic-Con 2018 as it unfurls.
