HIGHLIGHTS

Check out our first bingelist of 2020. Catch shows and films like The Chalet, Constantine and Vinland Saga.

With the new year hitting us like a ton of bricks, we suggest you take this weekend off and check out these awesome shows and movies that we’ve put together for your viewing pleasure.

Netflix:

Kengan Ashura

If you’re a fan of MMA and anime then Kengan Ashura is the right animated show for you. The show follows Ohma Tokita as he enters a world of brutal underground fighting. The action is relentless, the moves all correspond to real world fighting techniques and the show is a visual treat for action anime fans.

The Neighbour

One of the funniest shows we’ve seen in a long time, The Neighbour follows a man who is given superhuman powers and what he does with those said powers makes up the bulk of the show. Funny, action-packed with a surprising amount of heart, The Neighbour should be a weekend treat.

The Chalet

When a bunch of friends head out for a summer getaway, secrets are revealed and the whole thing devolves into a chaotic mess. The Chalet is a great watch if you enjoy dark thrillers and a good mystery.

Hotstar:

Warrior

Based on the writings of one, Bruce Lee, Warrior follows a fresh-off-the-boat shaolin fighter as he attempts to track down his sister on the wild and dangerous streets of San Francisco during the early 1900’s. The fights are great and the show itself boasts of impressive production values. A must watch for fans of action films.

Room 104

Room 104 is an anthology series that takes place in one single hotel room as various people pass through its walls. Each episode focuses on a separate character and the episodes range from horror to even comed. Room 104 is a great show for those looking for an offbeat story.

Deep Blue Sea

Deep Blue Sea may not be a new film but it’s a guilty pleasure that is ideal for a cold weekend. A team of researchers unleash hell on their underwater station after the sharks they experimented on turn out to be smarter than they look. A great horror/thriller for the weekend.

Prime Video:

Vinland Saga

One of the most celebrated manga of all time, Vinland Saga tells the tale of Thorfinn and his journey through the Viking warlands. A brutal tale of loss, vengeance and redemption, Vinland Saga is very different from your regular anime and you’d be making a mistake if you miss this series.

Constantine

Forget about the garbage TV show that had Constantine running around in a PG-13 world and check out this version of the titular character. Even if the show changes a few things around, it still retains that kickass spirit that the comics had in spades. Avoid the trash TV show and watch this instead.

Prisoners

Prisoners is one of the most nihilistic films we’ve seen. Denis Villeneuve proved his directorial chops with this film and it was what led him to direct Arrival and Blade Runner 2049. One of the most harrowing films on the list, Prisoners will leave you empty and hollow.

Andrew Lu

A geek and nerd at heart, I love comic books, horror movies and professional fighting. Yes, I know how insane that sounds.
