Four SSDs for a faster PC

Four SSDs for a faster PC

A solid-state drive (or an SSD) uses integrated circuit assemblies in order to store data and work as a faster storage solution for your computer. SSDs are considered better than Hard Disk Drive (HDD) as they offer significantly faster speeds and are also better suited to absorb shock. Not only should an SSD be included in any modern PC build, it also makes for a quick and easy way for users to speed up their PCs. It doesn't matter if you're a gamer who likes to play high-end games, or a professional who goes through pages of documents, an SSD helps everyone. Here are a few SSDs that you can check out.

Kingston SSDNow A400 240GB

As the name would suggest, the Kingston SSDNow A400 240GB drive has a 240GB storage capacity, making it a pretty good option to consider. The interface it runs on is SATA III, but is also backwards compatible with TA Rev. 2.0. This will be quite useful for those with an older PC who plan on upgrading their system by adding an SSD. Kingston claims that the drive can offer read and write speeds of 500MB/s and 450MB/s respectively. The company adds that these speeds are ten times faster than what one might get with a traditional drive.

Crucial BX500 240GB

The Crucial BX500 offers 240GB storage space, which should be enough for most basic requirements. The drive uses SATA III, which is something buyers need to keep in mind before buying this SSD.  In terms of speed, it offers 540 MB/s read, and 500 MB/s write speeds. This should result in massive performance boost for anyone still using a traditional HDD. The company also offers a three-year limited warranty, which should offer a little peace of mind to anyone who buys the drive.

Western Digital WD Blue 250

The Western Digital WD Blue 250 offers 250GB storage space along with impressive read and write speeds of 560MB/s and 530MB/s respectively. The brand claims that this SSD comes with a mean time to failure (MTTF) rate of 1.75M hours. In layman's terms, the SSD should be able to last 1.75 million hours before it fails. This particular SSD sports the 2.5-inch form factor, which is aimed at laptops. However, it is also available in a separate M.2 2280 form factor.

Samsung 860 EVO 250GB

This particular version of the Samsung 860 EVO offers 250GB storage capacity. It also offers sequential read and write speeds of upto 550MB/s and 520MB/s respectively. It is available in a 2.5-inch form factor, which should make it easy to install in laptops. It should also be noted that the drive uses a SATA III interface. This is something that should be kept in mind when buying this SSD. Samsung also notes that the TurboWrite buffer size has been upgraded from 12GB to 78GB, which will result in faster file transfer.
