Donald Trump or Kamala Harris? What AI predicts as next US President 2024
As the whole world waits to find out the result of the hotly contested US Election 2024 between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, we tried to ask popular AI chatbots on what they think will be the ultimate winner and be crowned the 47th US President in the coming hours and days.

For the purpose of this story, we asked ChatGPT 4o, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Meta AI, Perplexity.ai and Anthropic Claude 3.5 the same basic question: Between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, who will win the US Presidential Election 2024?
Let’s see what the AI chatbots had to say about the US Election Result 2024, and which presumptive nominee they were subliminally supporting.
1) ChatGPT 4o
When I asked ChatGPT to pick a winner between either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump as the winner and next US President, it gave the above response — which I think was responsible and correct on its part. Instead of hallucinating or making any wrong statements, ChatGPT 4o responded with links to AP and Reuters to get the latest on US Election Result 2024. I also clicked on the new ChatGPT search feature (which went live earlier last week), and it came back with the same result.
2) Google Gemini
Same question to Google Gemini, and the same non-committal reply. Gemini refused to comment on who will win the US Election 2024 and become the next US President, between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. At this point, do I see a trend emerging here? Let’s see if AI chatbots are becoming more responsible than we thought them to be, shall we?
3) Microsoft Copilot
Kudos to Microsoft Copilot for being short, sweet and amazingly curt in its response, clearly asked by its makers to zip it up on US Election Result 2024-related queries and controversial responses. Of course, it didn’t tell me anything about who will win between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. On to the next one…
4) Anthropic Claude 3.5
Just like others before it — ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot — even Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 chatbot refused to get drawn into the US Election Result hype. What I liked here is it clearly stated its “knowledge cutoff” date, which tells you the timeframe of its training data. Most LLM AI chatbots out there aren’t supposed to act as realtime search engines, and Anthropic’s Claude did a great job of explaining that nuance (albeit indirectly).
5) Meta AI
Unlike ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Anthropic Claude, WhatsApp’s Meta AI came back with a succinct and up-to-date response about the US Election 2024 and Presidential Race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump
I was impressed with Meta AI’s response to be honest. Without predicting any clear cut winner between the two US Presidential candidates, it did a great job of responding with key stats and figures that were available at the time.
6) Perplexity.ai
Where everyone else disappointed (except Meta AI), Perplexity.ai came through, giving at least some semblance of a response to my original query — Between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, who will win the US Presidential Election 2024?
For those who don’t know, Perplexity.ai is made by ex-Google and ex-OpenAI mavericks, so of course it’s no surprise it gives the most comprehensive and up-to-date response (at the time of writing this piece) on the US Election Result 2024-based query. It also gave a electoral vote share split, giving 179 votes to Kamala Harris and 214 to Donald Trump — favouring Trump based on latest polling results at the time.
Additionally, Perplexity.ai also gave this detailed breakdown of the latest US Election 2024 parameters in play — what’s happening in key battleground states and how voter sentiment is favouring either candidate, Harris or Trump.
Ultimately, what’s great to see here is that despite a hotly contested AI race, AI chatbots like Google Gemini, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Meta AI, Perplexity.ai, and Claude 3.5 are intentionally mum about the ongoing US Election 2024’s result. By refraining from predicting outcomes, these platforms are aligning with a growing effort to reduce misinformation from AI platforms.
As AI tools are now common sources of information, companies are implementing careful guidelines that prioritize factual reporting and resist engaging in speculative discussions around high-stakes topics, especially elections. This cautious stance reflects a larger movement toward responsible AI use, ensuring that AI remains a tool for reliable information rather than a source of divisive forecasts or partisan conjecture.
