Digit’s ‘Stay At Home’ Binge list for the weekend, featuring: Altered Carbon: Resleeved, The Platform and Hunters
HIGHLIGHTS

It may be a dour weekend but Digit's here with the ultimate 'Stay At Home' Binge guide

All the best shows and films on Netflix, Prime Videos and Hotstar

Even though this weekend may not be as fun-filled as ost weekends because of the threat of the Coronavirus, it doesn't mean that you guys can’t enjoy yourselves. If you’re stuck at home and are in self-quarantine, then we’ve got some good news for you. We at Digit have compiled a list of films and TV shows that you should definitely check out. This list is a mix of new and old shows and stuff that you may have not seen.

Netflix:

Altered Carbon: Resleeved:

Altered Carbon: Resleeved is an animated feature set in the same universe we’ve come to know and somewhat love. On the planet Latimer, Takeshi Kovacs must protect a tattoo artist while investigating the death of a yakuza boss, all while being pursued by the law. The animation looks a little janky but hey, what can you expect from modern animation?

The Platform

We haven’t seen this film as yet but from what we know, it promises to be a hell of a thought-provoking film. A man wakes up in a sort of prison where a large table of food is lowered down each day. The prisoners on the top enjoy the most delicious food while the ones in the bottom have to just make do and survive. It looks creepy and sure seems like a fun time.

Kingdom Season 2

The end of the first season of Kingdom left us hanging by a thread. The empire was in shambles and zombies have overrun the entire countryside. But, a plucky prince and his band of soldiers and medics fighting to save Korea from falling into absolute chaos. It’s a very well-shot show with excellent set design and aesthetics. Do not miss this show.

Prime Video

Hunters

You’ve seen the promos and may have thought of watching the show and we’re here to tell you YES! Check Hunters out if you’re into the prospect of seeing Nazi’s getting their comeuppance after horrendous war crimes. Plus, Al Pachino is always a riot.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

If you missed this film in theatres then we’re very disappointed in you. But you can make it up to us by checking out Once upon a time in Hollywood on Prime Video. You know you want to, it’s Quentin Tarantino's latest film and you’ll be missing out on some excellent dialogue, smart screenplay and a sense of heightened reality. Go on, check it out. You can tell us about it later.

Pet Sematary:

Ok, the remake wasn’t as fearsome and vicious as the original was but Stephen King’s Pet Sematary is one of the better horror films you’ll see this year. After the CGI fest that was IT Chapter 2, Pet Sematary dials down the CGI in favour of emotional scares and creepy kids. What’s not to love about that?

Hotstar:

Devs:

We’re 4 episodes in and we’re very confused but very interested in the latest from maverick director Alex Garland. After the mind-bending Annihilation, Garland’s jumped into the world of serialized storytelling with Devs. The show is a mystery wrapped in an enigma but if anything, check it out for the twisted tale of Determinism and murder. Very interesting, indeed!

Coco:

Yep, we won’t lie, Coco bought us all to tears when we first watched it. The tale of a Mexican boy who's love for music transcends even the finality of death is one of the most endearing animated film’s we’ve seen. IF you’re feeling a little down because of what’s going on in the world, watch Coco and be prepared for some of the best escapist fiction in animated form.

Ballers:

A lot of people have decried ballers as some Entourage ripoff but with the NFL instead of Hollywood and you'd be kinda right. Ballers have a bit more substance to it than you may think. Plus, watching the Rock strut his stuff in a perfectly fitted three-piece and you’ll all be pretending to be buttoning up your cufflinks in your profile photos. Ballers is great entertainment and it’s definitely worth a watch.
