In this article, I’m going to outline an AMD-based PC configuration that balances cost and functionality, focusing on components available as of January 2025. Dive right in…

1) CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500

The AMD Ryzen 5 5500 is a 6-core, 12-thread processor with a base clock of 3.6 GHz and a boost clock up to 4.2 GHz. It’s well-suited for multitasking and general computing needs.

However, it’s important to note that the Ryzen 5 5500 does not have integrated graphics, necessitating a discrete GPU for any gaming aspirations you’d have from your new budget PC build.

2) Motherboard: ASUS Prime A520M-K

This Micro ATX motherboard supports AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors and offers essential features for a budget PC build, including DDR4 memory support, M.2 storage support, and multiple USB ports – including four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and two USB 2.0 ports on the rear I/O panel, facilitating easy connection of peripherals and external devices.

An onboard Realtek RTL8111H 1Gb Ethernet port ensures reliable wired network connectivity. Incorporating ASUS 5X Protection III, the motherboard offers multiple hardware safeguards, including DIGI+ VRM for precise power delivery, LANGuard for network protection, and overvoltage protection, ensuring long-term reliability and stability.

3) GPU: Will cost more

Given that the AMD Ryzen 5 5500 does not have integrated graphics, incorporating a discrete GPU is essential for this build if you plan on doing any gaming at all.

While high-end GPUs may exceed the budget, considering entry-level options like the NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 or AMD Radeon RX 550 can provide basic display output and support for light gaming, keeping the overall cost within the ₹25,000 limit.

4) RAM: Kingston Fury Beast 16GB

A dual-channel configuration with two 8GB DDR4 modules operating at 3200MHz ensures smooth multitasking and system responsiveness. This setup takes advantage of the motherboard’s dual-channel memory support, enhancing overall performance.

5) Storage: Western Digital WD Blue SN580 NVMe 1TB SSD

This NVMe SSD offers 1TB of fast storage, ensuring quick boot times and responsive application performance. It’s a cost-effective solution for both the operating system and essential applications, providing ample space for data and programs.

Assembly Tips

  • Power Supply: A reliable 450W power supply will suffice for this configuration, ensuring stable power delivery to all components.
  • Case: Opt for a budget-friendly Micro ATX case that offers adequate airflow and space for future upgrades.
  • Cooling: The AMD Ryzen 5 5500 comes with a stock cooler, which is adequate for its thermal needs under standard operating conditions.

This budget PC build is well-suited for everyday computing tasks, including web browsing, document editing, and media consumption. With the inclusion of a discrete GPU like the NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 or AMD Radeon RX 550, it can even handle light gaming at 720p to 1080p resolutions on low to medium settings, making it suitable for titles like CS:GO, Dota 2, and League of Legends. As budget allows, upgrading to a more powerful graphics card can enhance gaming performance and enable higher settings in more demanding games.
