For years, Apple has been an unsung hero in the DJ booth. MacBooks have powered club nights and festival sets, running industry-standard software like Serato and rekordbox. Apple has announced that it’s integrating Apple Music directly into leading DJ software and hardware platforms.
With the launch of the new “DJ with Apple Music” program, DJs can now build and mix sets using Apple Music’s extensive 100-million-song catalog across multiple platforms from day one.
Some supported platforms include Algoriddim’s djay Pro, AlphaTheta’s rekordbox, Serato, inMusic’s Engine DJ, Denon DJ, Numark, and RANE DJ. This means that DJs, from beginners to seasoned professionals, now have direct access to an enormous library of tracks to sculpt their sound in real time.
Before, DJs had to rely on local files, purchased tracks, or limited streaming support. Now, with Apple Music in the mix, they can instantly access and experiment with millions of songs without downloading or purchasing individual tracks. This could be useful, especially for DJs who play open-format sets, allowing them to cater to any crowd on the fly.
Apple Music has also introduced a dedicated DJ category page, featuring editorial playlists curated specifically for DJs. These include essential tracks, remixes, and even recommendations based on mixing styles.
“Apple Music is committed to supporting DJs,” said Stephen Campbell, Global Head of Dance, Electronic & DJ Mixes at Apple Music. “With this latest integration, we’re taking that commitment even further—seamlessly connecting Apple Music with the industry’s leading DJ software and hardware. This innovation brings the full power of Apple Music into the creative workflow, making it easier than ever for DJs to access, play, and discover music in real time.”
Serato’s CEO, Young Ly, called the partnership with Apple Music a “milestone moment” for DJs. By integrating with Apple Music, Serato and other DJ platforms are now providing artists with a seamless workflow from music discovery to live performance.
Apple’s move is not just about making things easier, it’s about redefining how DJs work. The Apple Music integration could influence the future of DJing by making streaming the norm rather than the exception. With high-speed internet becoming more accessible globally, cloud-based DJing could soon replace the need for massive local music libraries.
For now, Apple Music’s DJ integration is a major step forward, giving DJs the flexibility to create without limits. Whether it’s a casual mix at home or a full-blown club set, Apple Music is finally taking center stage in the world of DJing.
