We all love going to social events, don’t we? It’s our time to chill, and dance, and party. But what’s a bummer is the tickets. Even if you buy the tickets the uncertainty revolving around them is such a pain. Now that online tickets are all the rage, scammers have found a way to trick us. These scammers will not let us breathe peacefully. I have a list of scams here that you should be aware of if you are booking your tickets online.

Seat Scams

This one has personally happened to me. So I went to a live gig and got tickets to secure a table online. When I actually reached the venue, I was shown seats in a shady corner. Later on I found out that it’s way too common and has been happening a lot. You might select a particular set of seats online but in actuality you’ll end up getting cheaper seats.

Duplicate tickets scam

Some scammers sell one single ticket multiple times. What will happen is the first person to reach the event will get entry and the rest will be sent back. This is way more common now because of third-party websites, e-tickets, and QR codes.

Error Notifications

Well if you have landed on a fake website to buy tickets then you might become a victim of this scam. What would happen is that while making the payment, it shows you an error notification despite money getting debited from your account. It will take you back to the payment gateway to buy the tickets. If you pay again thinking that the first one will get refunded , you’ll end up paying twice without any way of getting your money back.

Scams through social media

How can we forget social media when we talk about scams? You must have seen how people sell their extra tickets through Instagram. But there are some scammers amongst them who simply deactivate their accounts after you have made the payments and you have no way left to contact them.

Fake tickets

Some scammers will sell you fake tickets, they could be either e-tickets or printed ones. Once you reach the event, these will not work and you will be asked to leave.

So next time you are buying your tickets online, make sure it is from an official website. Do not take risks on the internet because scammers are waiting for that one wrong move.
