Anuj “Amaterasu” Sharma

How did you get into gaming?

I got into gaming almost by accident. I've always enjoyed competitive games of every kind since I was a child. But I was introduced to the world of PC gaming on a random trip to the local cyber cafe. Starting with Ragnarok, I enjoyed playing several different PC games until I came across CS 1.6 which sparked off an obsession on a different level.

The game you play and why you love it

I play CS: GO and love it because it requires a balance of strategy and skill, and it never gets monotonous. Over the last several years of playing, I'm still constantly discovering and learning new positions, strategies, and techniques.

A little on the team you play for

The team I play for is Entity Gaming, among India's best professional gaming organizations. An unmatched boot camp with the best equipment available in India, industry-leading salaries, and player support – Entity has brought several international best practices to the Indian gaming scene since its inception.

Any specific team or player you would like to play against?

I would love to play against Astrails/simple.

Favorite gaming moment across gaming?

My favourite moment is when I represented my country in Paris for ESWC.

What is the most unforgettable game or match you were part of?

Finals of ESWC India against IW.

Your thoughts on the eSports scene in India right now

The eSports scene in India has boomed especially in the last couple of years, but still has a long way to go. Playing as salaried professionals for an organization, participating in legit Indian and international tournaments with respectable prize pools, and access to international coaches and teammates seemed like a distant dream until a few years ago. As this industry grows and becomes more and more lucrative, we're bound to discover a lot younger talent across the country, have easier access to the best gaming tech in the world, improve overall in terms of quality of individual and team performances and close the gap between Indian players and our international counterparts. The next era of India's eSports scene seems bright and exciting for sure.
