Call of Duty: Mobile's Anniversary update is live
The update includes a new Battle Royale map called Alcatraz
The new map is smaller and features numerous changes to Call of Duty's traditional battle royale formula
Call of Duty: Mobile’s Anniversary update is here and with it comes a whole bunch of additions and improvements. However, we won’t be talking about all of them So if you need a recap of everything that is new, click here. In this piece, we will be looking at the Battle Royale mode’s new map, Alcatraz. As the name would suggest, the new map is based on the legendary prison located just off the coast of the city of San Francisco.
Unlike Call of Duty: Mobile’s traditional Battle Royale map of Isolated. Alcatraz is a lot smaller and primarily features an urban layout. Further, players won’t be able to choose their class. Instead, they will have to find their class out in the battlefield. With that in mind, let’s look at 5 things you should keep in mind when playing on Alcatraz.
Get your loadout sorted
Before you start the match, head over to Gunsmith and create a Battle Royale loadout for urban combat. You’ll most likely be fighting in close-to-mid-ranges, so you should ideally pick something for that. Maybe an assault rifle or SMG with a decent scope and attachments. However, you should choose any weapon you’ll be most comfortable with in such situations.
Have a plan before you land
Matches in Alcatraz can be hectic and fast paced. So have a plan in mind. If you plan on immediately getting into fights, then land somewhere in the center and get cracking. If you want to take your time, land towards the edge of the map and make your way inside. Regardless, you won’t have much time to make a decision as you will be pushed straight off the plane and into free fall.
Always have a backup
There is a very good chance that things just won’t pan out the way you hoped. You may not find your ideal weapon or you may not have the right class. Regardless, don’t waste your time looking for something specific. Rather, make do with what you get and then adapt on the fly. If you end up with a long-range weapon, avoid the indoors and try to gain a height advantage.
Battle of attrition
The Alcatraz map is only available to squads and you would want to be in a team as much as possible. Not only will being in a team give you backup fire power. But the game mode is such that players get up to 5 chances to redeploy provided at least one of their teammates is still alive. As such, the final battles can usually turn into attrition battles with teams spreading out to ensure that they all aren’t killed in a single go.
Look! Up in the sky!
As mentioned above, opposing teammates will regularly be returning to the map. As such, try to keep an eye out for any opposing players landing behind or above you. The last thing you would want is an enemy to get lethal revenge from getting the drop on you. Of course, you are perfectly free to so that yourself if you feel like it. Regardless, do note that players rerturning to the battlefield will be equipped with a QQ9 SMG, so it is not like they will be helpless. However, they will be carrying very limited ammo.
