4 top adventure games on the PlayStation 4

Updated on 04-Feb-2020

An immersive experience, intuitive gameplay and epic graphics are all you need when you’re searching for the top adventure games on the PlayStation 4. With a multitude of games available in the market (and new ones launching almost every week), it can be challenging to narrow down the top games that not only have a great story, but also keep you hooked endlessly. With that in mind, we’ve curated a list of the 4 games that you absolutely must check out.

Spider-Man

The lovechild of Insomniac Games, Sony Interactive Entertainment, and Marvel, Spider-Man offers a more masterful and experienced character than ever before with a wider repertoire of improvisational moves, environmental interactions and dynamic acrobatics. This makes the game a tad bit more fast-paced and fun for players, heightening the excitement that comes with each phase of the superhero’s journey. This isn’t to say that everything you see within the gaming universe is entirely new – you’ll still find your favourite characters, albeit in newer settings, which helps make the context and story a bit more relatable at the end of the day.

God of War

God of War was one of the most popular titles for the older generation of PlayStations. With the newest God of War, players step into the shoes of an older, wiser Kratos as he roams the wilderness with his son. This time around, you won’t be battling the Greek pantheon of gods, as you will be facing creatures and gods based on Norse mythology. The game has an even greater focus on storytelling this time. Play this and find out why God of War is considered to be one of the best (if not the best) game available on the PlayStation 4.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

If you’re looking for great character development, believable motivations, a balanced multi-player experience, action-packed adventure and a range of picturesque locations, then Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End might just be right up your alley. The voice acting certainly brings a lot of value to the storytelling, without the dialogues feeling forced or too expositional. Though some players believe the last act to be slightly stretched for the sake of it, the overall gameplay stops the experience from becoming too repetitive or annoying. With the game in its 4th installment in the popular Uncharted series, players get to continue their journey with the beloved protagonist, Nathan Drake, as he embarks on a brand-new globe-trotting adventure to uncover pirate treasures.

The Last of Us Remastered

The original game coupled with bonus content offers you an intense story-driven experience that finally takes you into Ellie’s past via a bonus single-player chapter, making this remastered version a must-have for fans of the original game. While the graphics do feel mildly dated in comparison to other games, the story and gameplay itself more than make up for the same. Don’t dismiss this for a game that only offers an endless shooting marathon – spend a few minutes into the game and you’ll realise that it tests your ability to hide and avoid attention far more than it tests your shooting skills, making this a much more engaging game than those of the generic point-and-shoot varieties. Watch out for softer moments between Ellie and Joel, as these aspects of the story are what make the journey extra special as you play.
