Intel Software Innovators: Developmental Disability Month Projects & Events

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month which seeks to raise awareness about the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all facets of community life, as well as awareness of the barriers that people with disabilities face in connecting to the communities in which they live.

We have several innovators that are developing wearables and other devices and technology to help people with disabilities to be able to access and be a part of their communities. To celebrate these initiatives, we want to promote the work that the Intel® Software Innovator and Intel® Software Developer Black Belt communities are doing to make technology accessible and to enhance the lives of everyone.

Innovator Collaboration Opportunity with SmartNotify

SmartNotify specializes in the communication layer with a focus on better safety and communication tools at home, in the office, or when traveling. We would love to collaborate with innovators and teams from Intel during Disabilities Awareness Month. We know that several innovators work in computer vision or have produced prototypes targeting different disability groups, the idea would be to push this further and include the communication part in the workflow.

Below is a selection of projects currently on Intel® Developer Mesh and are designed to do things like help blind people to see, maintain health or moods with wearables, or use gestures to navigate wheel chairs, and more. If you have a project that can help disabled people to improve their lives, become more mobile, and be a bigger part of their communities you should add it to Mesh to share with us.
