Intel IoT Developer Kit 3.0 Release Notes

Intel IoT Developer Kit 3.0 Release Notes

We are pleased to announce the release of Intel® IoT Developer Kit v3.0. We've added additional support for maker and industrial sensors, updated IDEs with better cloud and sensor integration, made a number of enhancements, as well as bug fixes and improved usability. The Intel® IoT Developer Kit now includes the Intel® System Studio IoT Edition, an IDE for IoT development that supports both C/C++ and Java. We’ve also updated our OS images and repositories to include several popular and useful packages for development, such as Git, Vim, Nano, IoTivity, pip, and many more. The software components are available now for immediate download on the Software Downloads page.

Intel® XDK IoT Edition

New Features:

  • Sensor Explorer – updated to allow users to browse through the JavaScript* sensor APIs exposed by UPM (Useful Packages for MRAA). Code snippets are provided for most sensors.
  • Enhanced Terminal Support – overhauled terminal support using a more robust terminal implementation, providing better support for screen resizing, scrolling, paging, etc.
  • Run NPM Directly on IoT Device – added support for running NPM directly from your IoT device to better support some node modules, such as bleno.
  • Added a new interface to control boot time behavior of Node.js apps developed using the Intel XDK IoT Edition.
  • Added over 15 new Node.js IoT templates.
  • Enhanced code hinting support for MRAA/UPM JavaScript libraries.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where the IoT menu was inoperable at certain window sizes.
  • Fixed an issue relating to code/node module synchronization.
  • Fixed various other bugs to enhance the usability/stability of the Intel® XDK IoT Edition.

Intel® System Studio IoT Edition

New Features:
