Suzhal: The Vortex is a Tamil crime thriller series created by Pushkar-Gayathri. The show is set in a small South Indian town and revolves around a seemingly routine minor case that escalates into a complex crime thriller, unraveling the town's social fabric.
Season 1: The story is set in the town of Sambaloor during the Mayana Kollai festival. It begins with parallel stories of kidnapping and arson, which later unfold into deeper themes of childhood trauma and conspiracy.
Season 2: The plot centers around the mysterious death of Chellappa, a distinguished lawyer and senior activist. The investigation, led by sub-inspector Sakkarai, takes place during the grand Ashtakaali Festival in Kaalipattanam. As the inquiry progresses, long-buried secrets and unresolved tensions come to light, complicating the pursuit of justice.

Day 0: Flag Hoisting Day 1: Procession of the Goddess On the first day of Mayana Kollai festival, Sambaloor town wakes up to the news of a factory fire. Meanwhile, the personal life of the factory’s union leader, Shanmugam, gets complicated. His daughter, Nandini, demands the police’s attention to the matter. Sakkarai, the sub-inspector, gives a cocky response.

Day 2: Street play Inspector Regina, on realizing the gravity of Shanmugam’s personal problem, springs into action. Kothandaraman, a fire specialist, arrives at the site to draft a fire report for the insurance company. As day two of the Mayana Kollai festival unfolds, Sakkarai goes looking for clues. With Nandini’s help, he gets a critical tip that sends shockwaves by introducing a new suspect.

Day 3: Procession of the Goddess in the Chariot of Her Soldier Shanmugam and his family aggressively pursue the likely suspect. The stakes are too high for Regina and she takes some damage control measures proactively. Kothandaraman's patience wears thin. The conflict between Regina and Shanmugam is all set to explode.

Day 4: Immersion of the Goddess Sakkarai and Nandini reach just in time. A charming love story, set against a tense rivalry, unfolds. Regina and Shanmugam go through a gamut of emotions as they discover the recent past of the children's lives. Sakkarai and Nandini share the difference in their perspectives of the town. The locals toss a big yellow head of the previous year’s idol into the lake.

Day 6: Soorai - Food from the Deity's Statue Dark clouds engulf the families of Shanmugam and Regina. The autopsy doctor informs them that there is more than what meets the eye. Kothandaraman suspects the factory maintenance. Sakkarai and Nandini unlock Nila's social media profile. As Sakkarai finds out more about the teens, he feels disillusioned. Nandini asks him a pertinent question.

Day 7: Goddess' Dance The families find solace in the memories of their kids. Kothandaraman investigates inside the burnt factory. Sakkarai and Regina fear the worst and she makes a hasty arrest. Through the enquiry, Sakkarai finds out the answer to the question previously posed by Nandini. He is disturbed. The DNA results from the autopsy test are out - Nandini can barely handle the news.

Day 8: The Firewalking Ceremony The cops continue to systematically investigate the Nila-Adhisayam case. The doctor attending to Nandini suggest that she needs psychiatric help and Shanmugam shoots it down immediately. Kothandaraman works the case tirelessly. Sakkarai bends the rules in pursuing his suspect. Shanmugam and Regina, desperate to avenge the crime, take matters into their own hands.

Day 9: The Swing Kothandaraman now has all the details for the fire report. Nandini's psychiatrist identifies gaps in her memories. Mukesh Vadde is vexed on seeing how futile their plans have turned out to be. A lonely figure walks up to the edge of the cliff. The entire town is at the Mayana Kollai’s grand finale - The 'Oonjal.' The Goddess is done with Her work. Now, She rests.
