In many ways, it is a tale about two Lokis: the one we've already watched evolve – albeit gradually – over the Thor trilogy and the Avengers flicks, and the one we're going to witness confront a new fate in Loki as a result of an unintentional temporal intervention.
This is the Loki we'll be seeing once the character's Marvel spinoff series begins. Not the Loki who witnessed Asgard's demise and may have been able to atone for some of his prior misdeeds by assisting Thor in the aftermath, but the Loki who has just led a murderous invasion of Earth.
This Loki, who was responsible for numerous human murders – including Agent Phil Coulson on a SHIELD helicarrier before the Battle of New York had even begun – is still enraged as a result of Odin's lies about his origin.

1. In the comics, each agent of the Time Variance Authority resembled Marvel Comics writer/editor Mark Gruenwald. This was a joke as Gruenwald's job as editor was to maintain continuity across the Marvel Universe.
2. The TV series is intended to have a major impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, serving as a link to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023).
3. The animated mascot Miss Minutes is inspired by the animated character Mr. DNA from Jurassic Park (1993).
4. According to Tom Hiddleston, the series title shifting between various fonts refers to "integrating the disparate fragments of the many selves that Loki can be."
5. The series was originally meant to follow Loki "popping up throughout human history as an unlikely influence on historical events".
6. The Time Variance Authority headquarters was inspired by the Atlanta Marriott Marquis hotel, a 50-story building with a distinctive atrium chamber that spans the whole length of the building and has elevators and bridges.
7. Series director Kate Herron said in June 2021 that the series doesn't align with any particular story in the comics. While it may pull some inspiration from here and there, there's not a major narrative adaptation like there was in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) or Captain America: Civil War (2016). The filmmaker made the comments to DigitalSpy, where she says Loki's story is something "not seen or read before."
8. Sophia Di Martino had become a mother before filming started. To make it easy for her to nurse her child between takes, concealed zippers were added to the chest area of her costume.
9. Owen Wilson compared Mobius's relationship with Loki to the main characters' relationship in the comedies 48 Hrs. (1982), Catch Me If You Can (2002), and Good Will Hunting (1997).
