An aging secret agent, V. K. Naidu, located in New Delhi, contacts a mysterious sniper to murder a target, Farid Haqqani, from a distance. However, the sniper shoots Naidu and flees. He is revealed to be an ex-RAW agent Kabir Dhaliwal, who was once regarded as one of the agency's top agents but has since gone rogue. Soon after, Kabir's old employer and RAW joint secretary, Col. Sunil Luthra, transmits Kabir's betrayal to Defence Minister Sherna Patel, who orders the agency to summon Khalid Rahmani, another RAW agent who was formerly taught by Kabir and is completely awestruck by the former mentor. In the present, Khalid is on the verge of being removed from the mission when an army official, Lt Col. Jimmy Shroff, is assassinated by Kabir. Khalid locates Kabir and discovers that his next target is Dr. Utpal Biswas. In the present, Khalid is powerless to prevent Kabir from murdering Biswas. Infuriated, he pursues Kabir, who flees once more. Khalid gets fired after attempting to persuade Sunil to give him one more opportunity. Khalid follows Kabir through Ruhi and discovers that Kabir is actually targeting Illiyasi members such as "Rook" (Naidu), "Knight" (Shroff), "Bishop" (Biswas), and an unknown "Pawn," and is on an undercover mission to acquire a drive containing a secret code that Illiyasi need.
