Evie is charmed by Oliver, who tells Evie about the scandal of her great-grandmother, Emmaline Alexander, who had a secret child with a black footman. She invites Evie to an upcoming family wedding in England to meet everyone and Evie agrees after he sends her a first-class ticket.
Evie is seduced by the sexy aristocratic host. However, she discovers she’s thrust into a nightmare of survival as she uncovers twisted secrets about her family history.
