Maja Maa is a family entertainer movie about a loving mother Pallavi Patel who becomes a 'hurdle in her son's marriage plans by contesting societal norms. The middle-class mother has a secret past and is forced to examine her identity and how it has affected her life and choices. She has two children and she must fight her previous traumas in order to become a good mother. Pallavi Patel is shown as a simple Gujrati woman who teaches dance. Her son falls in love with a wealthy NRI girl, and after much debate, the girl’s parents agree to the match. However, on the day of the engagement, a rumour surfaces about Pallavi which causes things to fall apart. She has to face her past and come to terms with some disturbing incidents.
