The mission might herald the start of a new era, bringing an end to the two countries' long-standing rivalry. Some powers, though, do not want that light to come. Raghavan is one of them, and he will do anything, including endangering the life of General Amarjeet Bakshi's daughter Sanjana.
Ram Prasad disguises himself as a student in Sanjana's school in order to protect her. However, Ram Prasad has another motive too. He must fulfill his martyred father, Brigadier Shekhar Sharma, dying desire for him to reunite with his brother Laxman (Zayed Khan), who studies at the same school as Sanjana and his mother Madhu (Kirron Kher).
This assignment entails powerful emotions and long-standing misconceptions. Ram Prasad Sharma's lone mantra as he attempts to carry out his dual duties of love and violence is "Main Hoon Na!"

1. The song "Chale Jaise Hawaein" was shot in one take.
2. Tabu makes an uncredited appearance in the movie. She can be seen when Shah Rukh Khan is doing dance practice for the prom night.
3. The first stunt Shah Rukh Khan does while walking on the wall was a secret from director Farah Khan. She didn't want him to do that stunt due to his back injury. She even threatened to tell his wife, Gauri Khan.
4. Shah Rukh Khan originally did not like the title of the movie believing it sounded incomplete. It was not until he heard the title song when he believed the title was perfect.
5. Farah Khan wanted Naseeruddin Shah to play Raghavan, but due to his commitment to The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003), he was not able to take on such a large role then. Hence, his special appearance as Shah Rukh Khan's father. For the role of Raghavan, Farah Khan subsequently approached Kamal Haasan, who couldn't give dates either. Then, Nana Patekar was approached, who demanded certain changes to the story of the film, which Farah Khan was not willing to do. Only then Suniel Shetty was approached.
6. Farhan Akhtar was considered for the role of Lucky.
7. The film is a takeoff on the Ramayana, as the names show: Ram, Lucky (Lakshman), and Raghavan (Ravana). Also, as a reference, in the movie, Lucky (Lakshman, played by Zayed Khan) mentions that the house would feel like a Mahabharat if he kept his name as Lakshman. Then his brother and mother correct him by saying Ramayan.
8. The title "Main Hoon Na" is a very popular dialogue used by Shah Rukh Khan in most movies.
9. Farah Khan and Shah Rukh Khan had started planning for this movie in 2000. Filming had started in 2001, but Shah Rukh Khan's back injury and other commitments came in the way.
10. Rani Mukerji was supposed to have a guest appearance in a song, but it wasn't possible. That's why there are two pictures of her when Satish Shah is flirting with the lady on the phone.
11. Farah Khan had the backup dancers appear as college students as well, instead of getting 100 backup dancers and another 100 college students. She said that there is no point in seeing characters dance and different characters for support.
12. Shah Rukh Khan hated his dance steps to Tumse Milke, but Farah Khan eventually convinced him to complete the steps.
13. The carriage Shah Rukh Khan is riding when chasing the assassins has the name Dhanno written on it. This is a reference to Sholay (1975), where Hema Malini's horse is named Dhanno.
14. Farah Khan wanted to have re-created Rahul Dev Burman music in the movie, but she chose not to because the movie Dil Vil Pyar Vyar (2002) had done the same thing. She then told music director Anu Malik to make the music R.D. Burman style.
15. The entire song "Chale Jaisen Hawaaein" from the movie was shot in just one take.
