Mahaan movie starts with a prologue, set in 1968, and shows three boys who have a falling out. Years roll by and in 1996, we see one of them, Gandhi Mahaan leading an unfulfilled life in which he is compelled to follow Gandhian values by his family, including wife Naachi as they are staunch followers of Mahatma Gandhi. Having just turned 40, he meets Sathyavaan, his childhood friend accidentally, who is now running a bar. He decides to party the night away, but the next day, his wife walks out of his home after having found out that he has been drinking. Mahaan then teams up with Sathyavaan and helps him develop his liquor business. After a few years, they end up meeting the third friend from the prologue — Gnanam who is now a politician. He helps them expand their business. However, things are not as they seem. Soon Gandhi's past catches up to him. Although he fulfils his desire to become a billionaire, he misses his son and wants him to be a part of his life again. The movie is an interesting watch with several twists and turns.
