Kantara is an action-drama film stunningly set in a mysterious forest. It has been told with the help of folklore, and art that is native to the Kundapura area. The more is vibrant and has stunning performances, with moments that leave you in goosebumps. Kantara is set in a mysterious forest and villagers live around the forest surviving on the minor forest produce.
A hotshot forest officer is posted to the area and seeks to redraw boundaries and reclaim illegal, unauthorised encroachments. His methods lack finesse even though his intentions are right. The village head Dhani takes care of the villagers though his father was not as generous. He is liberal; however, his caste pride sometimes comes through in his interactions. Every character has some shades of grey. Kaadubettu Shiva is the son of a man who performs the bhoota kola an animist form of spirit worship, however, he has moved farther away from his heritage. He is the village ruffian, picking up quarrels, and drinking and is in love with a local girl. However, with mysterious events happening in the village, he has to become a responsible adult who stands with his people and surrenders to the tribal deity. The movie has a jaw-dropping climax with amazing acting, visuals and music and is a must-watch.
