Kadaisi Vivasayi Movie (2022)

Kadaisi Vivasayi is a moving drama about farming as a dying occupation. The movie tackles the emotional and intense subject with a touch of humour and satire in most parts. The story closely follows Maayandi, an octogenarian farmer who lives by himself in a small village. For the first 20 odd minutes, the film revolves only around Maayandi’s day-to-day activities which he does with all his heart. From grazing his bulls to feeding his chickens and cooking simple meals, he lives a simple life and is content. His life revolves around doing his day-to-day tasks without anyone’s support. However, ne day, lightning strikes an old tree in the village. The villagers see this as a bad omen and they want to prevent anything bad from happening. They decide to offer prayers to their village deity. As he is the last farmer in the village, Maayandi is requested by the villagers to give grains to the deity. He accepts the request and starts farming. After a few days, he finds dead peacocks on his land, and he just buries them. Next, a policeman arrives in search of Mayaadi and what follows next surprises everyone. The movie conveys that farming is a noble profession and there is joy in living a simple life. It is definitely worth a watch.
