On campus, he meets Riya Somani (Shraddha Kapoor), a beautiful, wealthy Delhi girl who enjoys basketball. Despite coming from culturally disparate backgrounds, the two form a relationship. Both speak totally different languages, but they decide to be friends; in fact, Shraddha informs him that she will be his half-girlfriend; that is, dost se zyada, girlfriend se kum.
Shraddha, on the other hand, has a difficult existence at home. Her parents are often at odds. She finds solace in music and dreams that some day she will perform at a New York bar.
Arjun's mother, Rani Sahiba runs several schools in Bihar. She is a selfless worker and is sad that girls in the state of Bihar avoid school because of no amenities like toilets.
The film revolves around how the protagonists get close in college but are then separated. They meet after a couple of years while Madhav is still pining for Riya. What happens next, forms the core of the film.
