1.Amar Singh Chamkila was known for his deep passion for poetry writing from an early age and became Punjab’s highest record-selling artist.
2.His stage name ‘Chamkila’ means ‘shiny’ or ‘glittering’ and quickly gained traction and popularity after his first song “Takue Te Takua”.
3.Chamkila was so much in demand that there was a time when he performed 366 shows in 365 days, according to his biography ‘Awaz Mardi Nahin’.
4.His songs often discussed taboo topics such as the habits of men in Punjab, drug abuse, and extramarital relationships, earning him the title ‘Elvis of Punjab’.
5.Tragically, at the age of 27, Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife were shot down brutally in broad daylight in Mehsampur, Punjab, and the case remains unsolved.
