The Lenovo PHAB2, PHAB2 Plus and PHAB2 Pro were unveiled at the Lenovo Tech World, joining Lenovo’s phablet series, featuring a 6.4-inch display. All the three phones will start shipping from September and are available in Champagne Gold and Gunmetal Grey colours.
The PHAB2 Pro is priced at $499 being the high-end one and also is the first phone to come with Google’s Project Tango. The PHAB2 Plus is priced at $299 whereas the entry-level PHAB2 will set you back by $199. Let’s see what these phones have to offer.
Starting with the PHAB2 Pro, this is the first phone in the world that features Tango, Google’s camera system that is able to detect physical objects in 3D in an Augmented Reality setup. Using Tango, the PHAB 2 Pro can map out a physical space, track moving objects and even project virtual effects in a real-world space. Confused? Check out our video here.
The phone also features a huge 6.4-inch Quad HD IPS 2.5D curved glass display for you to enjoy the amazing AR experience. Under the hood, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 Processor build for Tango, along with 4GB RAM and 64GB in-built storage.
The phone also features 16MP PDAF fast focus rear camera, a depth sensor for Tango and another one for motion tracking and an 8MP F/2.2 front-facing camera. Other specifications include a fingerprint scanner, a 4050 mAh battery, a hybrid dual-sim slot that can be used to expand storage, triple-array microphone setup, Dolby Atmos along with Dolby Audio Capture 5.1 all packed in a Unibody Aluminium Alloy shell.
he mid-ranged PHAB2 Plus features a dual-camera arrangement and comes with AR capability through LenovoAR. The f/2.0 13MP camera is powered by Fujitsu Milbeaut image signal processor seen in professional cameras that come with software-based abilities like post-shot refocus, background swap, extreme manual settings and Augmented-Reality special effects.
Along with a 6.4-inch Full HD 2.5D curved glass display, the PHAB2 Plus is powered by the MediaTek 8783 Octa-Core Processor, 3 GB RAM and offers 32 GB internal storage that is expandable up to 128 GB.
The phone comes with a huge 4050 mAh battery that offers 23 hours of talk time. You also get a hybrid dual-sim slot, triple-array 360 – voice microphone setup and 5.1 Dolby Atmos surround along with JBL earphones bundled along.
The entry-level PHAB2 is an Augmented entertainment smartphone, says Lenovo. The phone features a 6.4-inch display that comes with a resolution of 1280 x 720, that might be a disappointment to the fans of big and crisp screen, but it might translate into longer battery life compared to the others as this, too, packs in the huge 4050 mAh battery.
The phone runs on MediaTek 8735 Quad-Core Processor and comes with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB in-build storage that is expandable up to 128 GB. On top, you have Android 6.0 operating system.
The phone features a 13 MP PDAF fast focus camera and a 5 MP 85-degree wide angle front facing camera. Even though being an entry-level smartphone in the series, Lenovo did not miss out on features like the hybrid dual-sim slot, triple array 360-degree sound capture microphone setup with active noise cancellation and 5.1 Dolby Atmos surround.
