A closer look at the display shows us that the S8 has minimal bezels at just 0.75mm. The whole phone is just 74.9mm wide. Gionee says that this is one of the narrowest smartphones housing 5.5-inch displays. The phone comes with a physical home button doubling up as a fingerprint sensor.

The right side of the phone has both the power key and the volume rocker. Also, it has a metal build, and it is just 7mm thick. The SIM card slots are located on the left side of the phone.

The speaker grille and the 3.5mm audio jack are at the bottom. The phone uses a ‘loop metal’ design which hides the antenna bands all around the phone.

At the back, the phone features a 16MP camera that uses an f/1.8 aperture and supports features such as phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and laser-assisted autofocus.

The metal build extends to the back. The Gionee S8 comes with a 3000mAh sealed-in battery, and weighs 148 grams. The dimple you see on the back (which looks like a fingerprint sensor) is actually the new Gionee logo.
